My client is a leading manufacturers located close to Weston-super-Mare. They are now seeking to attract first class individuals to join our dynamic, friendly and highly successful organisation.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Buyer will be responsible primarily for the planning, purchasing and monitoring of Stock Materials to ensure manufacturing and delivery targets are achieved

The Buyer will have responsibility for the life cycle of Purchase Orders from initial placement through to the successful posting of delivered goods to stock.

They will continually monitor and assess the suppliers’ quality, cost and delivery whilst developing and implementing appropriate inventory and purchasing strategies.

The Buyer will support the Supply Chain Manager in the organisation of the Stores staff ensuring adherence to process and accuracy of input to maintain optimum inventory levels. The buyer will also assist with the monthly and annual site Stock Take.

Key Responsibilities

Continually developing expertise to support growth for new project development.

Purchasing:

Placement and progression of purchase orders

Ensure optimum stock levels are maintained

Forecast stock requirements.

Monitor delivery times to ensure target dates are achieved.

Identify slow/non moving stock items and action accordingly.

Improve the identification and traceability of current and future stock items.

Deliver on-going cost savings for the company.

Site requisitions – analysing, purchasing and monitoring all site requisition requests.

Build and develop relationships with suppliers to enable discussion regarding defective or unacceptable goods. Continually monitoring, evaluating and improving supplier performance.

Adhere to company procedures and maintain the integrity of the company database

Authorise and order site requisitions as required.

Provide cover for the Supply Chain Manager as required.

Be the point of contact for staff and suppliers for queries and issues with materials.

Organise and implement stock checks to be carried out on a monthly basis with minimal disruption to production. Checking, querying and verifying data obtained and liaising with Accounts with information gained.

Essential Skills and Experience

Experience in a Buying role, preferably in the manufacturing sector

Multiple supplier management and relationship experience

Extensive knowledge of Purchasing & Inventory management and strategies

Ability to assess priorities and work on own initiative.

Good written and oral communication skills.

Excellent analytical, critical thinking and strategic skills.

Ability to work under pressure.

Confident, determined personality.

Highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail.
