An Estimator for permanent roles for our client based in the Barnsley / Wigan / Manchester / Glasgow or York area. Our client provide specialist multi-discipline engineering services throughout the UK. They are currently looking to expand their estimating team ideally with Civils, M&E or E&P. Previous experience ideally in rail peferred but applications from those wanting to be part of an expanding business welcome.

Summary of Position:

The purpose of this role is to develop competitive cost effective tenders to meet identified client needs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

+ The effective registration, control and administration of tender documentation.
+ Work closely with the Planning Team in relation to work sequencing and programmes.====
+ The preparation and management of tenders from receipt of documents through to delivery.
+ The presentation of tenders to senior management at tender review meetings.
+ Liaison with the Supply Chain Manager with the respect to placing of any major supplier or subcontractor enquiries.
+ The technical and commercial appraisal of materials, plant and sub contract quotations preparation of analytical estimates including the detailed appraisal of construction labour, plant materials and temporary works.
+ Be able to work from a bill of quantities or just a set of drawings from the client.===
+ Provide prices for everything from a one-off scheme to maintenance projects which will be completed over several years.===
+ The effective analysis and pricing of risks.
+ The preparation of estimating reports.
+ Providing assistance to proposals and contract management functions.

Qualifications / Knowledge:

+ Possess a comprehensive contracting and estimating background within a commercial / industrial construction environment
+ Excellent communication skills both verbal & written.
+ The ability to co-ordinate a multi-disciplinary Bit Team when required.
+ A working knowledge of common estimating software would be advantageous.
+ Must have an analytical approach, able to understand and follow good estimating procedures, be well organised, self-motivated and be able to work alone or in a team.
+ Must possess a complete understanding of the construction process
+ Must be IT literate, articularly with MS Word & Excel.
+ HND / Degree in related discipline or compensating experience.
+ CSCS not essential but desirable.
