Our client who is based in Highbridge are looking for a Buyer to join them on a permanent basis.

Summary

The Buyer will manage ingredient & packaging procurement at site level as well as group wide category management. This is an ideal opportunity for development if you are currently in a junior / assistant buyer role and looking for the next step in your career development or seeking a move into a large multi-sited organisation. The role is part of a site based procurement team reporting to the senior buyer.

The Ideal Candidate

Proven track record in a role requiring a similar skill set.

Commercial acumen coupled with the ability to translate business needs in to purchasing solutions.

Will be persistent, confident and challenging when dealing with suppliers, whilst gaining and retaining respect and confidence.

The ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast paced environment and build robust relationships both internally & externally.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills

Accountabilities

Procurement:  Procure material requirements in line with the Group’s sourcing strategies. Proactively support the implementation of agreed Group contracts within the business unit. Attain expert knowledge for the materials which have been allocated.

Forecasting:  Ensure the Group’s forecast assumptions are incorporated in to the business’ cost price & provide any necessary translation. 

Risk Management:  Using a formalised risk assessment model, identify potential supply risks and take appropriate action.

Systems & Processes:  Ensure that procurement systems and processes are effectively utilised and maintained. Data input must be accurate and changes implemented on time to ensure robust reporting. Ability to use Excel to a high standard including the creation and use of macros.

Supplier Management:  Measure supplier performance against agreed criteria and where sub-standard performance cannot be rectified locally escalate to the relevant Group buyer.

New Product Development:  Work with NPD, technical, production and planning to ensure robust NPD processes are followed for launches and de-lists.

There will be very occasional travel to the sister site so you will need a valid UK Driving License.
